Java has never been essential for web development

Biggest piece of bullshit written about computer programming that I've read for a while now. A classic case of why you shouldn't blindly trust what you read.

For the aspiring web developer, a knowledge of Java is essential to furthering your career.

Java is a great language and there are many reasons to learn it. However, web development isn't one of them. C'mon Business Insider please do better. When it comes to this language there is Android development or enterprise software but Java has never been essential to learn for one who is primarily into web development. Mostly the shift to Java is for scalability on the backend not for the front facing stuff.

Also when we are talking about the web who would recommend learning Java before HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, Ruby, Python or nodejs?
